Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Stratamap?

Stratamap is purpose-built for reliable 3D printing. Built on carefully processed global map data. Every export is optimized for your exact nozzle size and layer height, with a separate STL for each color in your map. The visual editor gives you full flexibility to design any map you can imagine, with a live 3D preview. No CAD skills, no post-processing, no cleanup.

Do I need any design experience?

No. Pick a location, choose your layers and colors, and Stratamap handles the rest. There are default templates so you can export a great-looking map without customizing anything. The editor shows a live preview so you can see exactly what you'll get before exporting.

Who is Stratamap for?

Anyone with a 3D printer who wants print-ready 3D maps without the hassle. Hobbyists printing their favorite hiking trails or holiday destinations, gift-makers creating custom maps for friends and family, and anyone who wants a unique piece of their favorite place. Every export is optimized for your printer so you spend less time fixing meshes and more time printing.

What do I get with my free map?

Every new account gets one free map export. Select any location, customize your map with colors and layers, and export a full set of 3D-printable STL files. No payment required.

What printers work with these maps?

Any FDM 3D printer. The exported STLs are optimized for your specific nozzle size and layer height. Multi-color maps work great with tool changers like Prusa XL or Snapmaker U1, nozzle swapping systems, or multi-material systems like the AMS or MMU.

How big can I print?

Maps can be up to 350mm x 350mm per export. You control the exact dimensions when you export, so you can size it to fit your build plate. You can also adjust vertical exaggeration to make terrain features more dramatic at smaller print sizes.

Can I change my map after exporting?

You can adjust dimensions, vertical scale, layer settings, and print settings, then regenerate updated files. Your area selection, layers, and drawn features are locked after export. Each export includes a limited number of free regenerations.

Can I use Stratamap commercially?

Exports are for personal use only. If you're interested in commercial use, contact us at support@stratamap.io to discuss licensing.

Is my payment information safe?

Yes. All payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Your card details go directly to Polar and are never stored on our servers.

What support do you offer?

Email us at support@stratamap.io. We respond to every message and are happy to help with print settings, design questions, or anything else. We also have documentation and guides to help you get the most out of your maps, with more being added regularly.
